Report false or inaccurate Whois details
If you feel that a domain name registered through a .nz Registrar is displaying inaccurate contact details, please tell us.
The best way to let us know is by emailing us on firstname.lastname@example.org, but you can also call us on 0800 101 151 if you prefer. When emailing, just make sure you tell us the domain name, and any other relevant information you may have.
Validation of .nz registration information.
.nz policy requires that domain name holders be contactable on the registration details of their .nz domain name. To enforce this requirement, the Domain Name Commission operates the Data Validation process.
Data Validation is the process by which the Domain Name Commission verifies selected domain names to ensure that they are meeting .nz policy requirements in regards to:
- an identifiable individual over the age of 18,
- or a properly constituted organisation
- being contactable at the registration details provided
The Data Validation process involves the Domain Name Commission attempting to contact the registrant via the registration details that have been provided.
We provide the registrant with an opportunity to confirm their registration details. At times we will also ask for additional information to be provided.
If the Registrant fails to verify or does not respond, within the given time frame we then sanction the registrant by way of cancellation of the domain name.
